Tooth decay is the destruction of your tooth enamel, which is the hard, outer layer of your teeth. Untreated tooth decay can lead to a hole in your tooth (a cavity), which can lead to further dental health problems. At Dental Masters, we understand the negative impacts of tooth decay and work to help patients get rid of decay and achieve a healthy, beautiful smile.
When we think of cavities, we often think of sweets and sugary drinks as the primary causes. However, tooth decay is actually caused by bacteria that is naturally present in our mouths. This bacteria, combined with saliva and food debris, forms plaque which can then lead to cavities. Tooth decay can spread quickly and cause serious damage to your teeth, so it is important to seek treatment as soon as possible.
At Dental Masters, we offer a variety of treatment options for cavities depending on the severity of the decay. In mild cases, we may simply recommend more frequent professional cleanings and improved at-home oral care. For more severe cases, we offer
dental fillings,
dental crowns, and
root canals. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
Tooth decay does not always cause pain or discomfort. However, if the decay is left untreated, it can lead to a serious infection. This infection can cause severe pain, swelling, and fever. During your procedure, you should not experience pain as we will numb the area before beginning treatment. However, you may experience some discomfort or soreness afterwards. This is normal and can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication.
At Dental Masters, we work to fight the negative impacts of tooth decay and have years of experience in successfully treating patients with this condition. We offer a variety of treatments that can restore your oral health and improve your quality of life. Please

"I’ve been going to Dental Masters of Alexandria for years and a patient of Dr. Laviola since he started practicing here. He’s very personable, knowledgeable, takes time to explain procedures (I’ve had quite a few!) and is just an amazing dentist. The entire staff is wonderful, always helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!"

"I have been a patient of Dr. Laviola's for several years now, and this is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Dr. Laviola and the whole team takes extraordinary care to make sure you are always comfortable throughout any cleaning and procedure, both major and minor (I have had both). The entire support team is also great."

"Dr. Laviola explained everything down to the last detail ..Soon after I was getting prepared for a life-changing event with dental implants. The surgery was so simple ..If you follow all instructions on medications there is little to no pain. The dental surgeon is amazing ..Everything from start to finish was done with perfection."
