Sinus Lift Procedures in Alexandria, VA

McLean & Greater Arlington Sinus Lift Specialist

A sinus lift is a surgical procedure that adds bone to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars. This gives dental implants  something to attach to and helps to make sure that your implant is secure. At Dental Masters, we use the latest technology and techniques to ensure that your sinus lift is as minimally invasive as possible and that you experience a quick, easy recovery at our offices in Alexandria and McLean.

Why Would I Need a Sinus Lift?

If you have lost bone in your upper jaw due to tooth loss, disease, or injury, you may not have enough bone to support dental implants. A sinus lift can help to correct this problem by increasing the amount of bone in the area. This will give you a better foundation for an implant and help to make sure that it is secure.

How Do Sinus Lifts Work?

During a sinus lift, the area is first numbed with local anesthesia. A small incision is then made in the gum tissue, exposing the bone. A small amount of bone is then removed from the sinus cavity. This creates a space for the new bone to be placed. The new bone is then placed and secured. The incision is closed with sutures so you can heal. The purpose of a sinus lift is to create more structural support so that a dental implant can be placed.

What Should I Expect After Sinus Lift Surgery?

After your sinus lift surgery, you can expect to experience some swelling and soreness in the area. This is normal and will resolve itself within a few days. You may also have some bruising around your eyes. This should also dissipate within a week or so. It is important to take it easy after your surgery and avoid any strenuous activity. You should also avoid blowing your nose or sneezing for at least a week so that you don’t dislodge the graft material. Our team will give you specific instructions on what you can and cannot do after your surgery to ensure a successful recovery.

"I’ve been going to Dental Masters of Alexandria for years and a patient of Dr. Laviola since he started practicing here. He’s very personable, knowledgeable, takes time to explain procedures (I’ve had quite a few!) and is just an amazing dentist. The entire staff is wonderful, always helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!"

"I have been a patient of Dr. Laviola's for several years now, and this is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Dr. Laviola and the whole team takes extraordinary care to make sure you are always comfortable throughout any cleaning and procedure, both major and minor (I have had both). The entire support team is also great."

Brett E.

"Dr. Laviola explained everything down to the last detail ..Soon after I was getting prepared for a life-changing event with dental implants.
