There are a variety of different methods available for improving the appearance of a patient's smile, depending on the types of issues they are looking to address. One solution to improving the look of chipped, stained, or slightly crooked teeth are porcelain veneers, which have been successfully used for years to enhance smiles. At Dental Masters, we have the experience of using porcelain veneers to make patients' smile dreams come true. Learn more about this common procedure to discover if it may be right for you.
Porcelain veneers can provide a number of benefits, both aesthetic and functional. Aesthetics-wise, veneers can give you the beautiful, even smile that you have always wanted. They can also be used to correct subtle alignment issues, close gaps between teeth, and brighten stained or discolored teeth. Functionally, porcelain veneers can also help to protect teeth from further damage and wear and tear.
No, porcelain veneers are not painful. In fact, most patients report that the process is relatively comfortable. However, you may experience some sensitivity immediately after your procedure as your teeth adjust to the veneers. This is normal and should go away within a few days.
The first step in getting porcelain veneers is to schedule a consultation to determine if veneers are the right solution for you. If they are, your dentist will then take impressions of your teeth so that the veneers can be custom-made to fit your mouth.
Once the veneers are ready, you will come back in for a placement appointment. The dentist will clean your teeth and roughen up their surfaces so that the veneers can adhere properly. Next, they will apply a special bonding agent to your teeth and then place the veneers on top. Once the veneers are in place, your dentist will use a special light to harden the bonding agent. Finally, they will check the fit of the veneers and make any necessary adjustments, and perhaps schedule a third appointment as a check-in on your progress.

"I’ve been going to Dental Masters of Alexandria for years and a patient of Dr. Laviola since he started practicing here. He’s very personable, knowledgeable, takes time to explain procedures (I’ve had quite a few!) and is just an amazing dentist. The entire staff is wonderful, always helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!"

"I have been a patient of Dr. Laviola's for several years now, and this is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Dr. Laviola and the whole team takes extraordinary care to make sure you are always comfortable throughout any cleaning and procedure, both major and minor (I have had both). The entire support team is also great."
